Course Overview:
Seventh Grade English is a reading and writing-intensive course, designed to integrate basic grammar and vocabulary skills with higher level critical, analytical, comprehension, and communication skills. Through daily practice, you will become able readers, writers, speakers, listeners, and creative thinkers.
Absences:
If you are absent from school, you are responsible for all missed work. All missed work will be placed in the student’s folder. If you are absent for a school- related event, you leave school early, or have signed in late, you are responsible for turning in any assignments due that day. Also, you are responsible for getting any work that you will be missing or have missed. You should plan on handing in assignments before you leave. Late assignments will not receive full credit. Quizzes or tests that are missed due to absence must be made within one week.
Homework:
The purpose of homework is to reinforce the skills you learn in class. Therefore, you will have written homework or reading, almost every night. If you have written homework, I will check or collect it at the beginning of class. My policy is simple; if you have your homework and it shows that you put the effort into the assignment, whether your answers are correct or incorrect, you will receive full credit. However, if your homework is incomplete or you do not have it with you, you will receive partial credit. Homework is a great way to boost your average; however, homework can also bring down your average if not completed. Students will attend lunch detention if homework is not completed on time.
Late Work Policy (unless otherwise specified):
• 10% credit loss per late day for major assignments (i.e.: 10pts off of 100% assignment)
• Work accepted later than 3 days from the due date will be subject to
significant penalty
• Late work must be made up on your own time.
Grading Policy:
Written Tasks/ Major Projects 30%
Tests 25%
Quizzes 20%
Homework 15%
Classwork/Membean 10%
